Finally… a HeavySmürf web site.

20Nov06

Rubik's Cube ActionYes, little friends, we outgrew MySpace. It was around the time I realized that you had to actually be added to the “friends” list on the HeavySmürf MySpace page that I decided to set this action up so we could share the podcasts to people who may not, necessarily, be friends of the Smürf. Also, MySpace is ugly. Or should I say fügly.

So for those of you using iTunes, here’s the feed URL for the podcast: http://www.heavysmurf.com/feed/ …. just add that puppy using the “Subscribe to Podcast” function under the “Advanced Menu”. ;)

New SmurfCast… Doin' Just Fine

29Jun06

Track index here. Listen here.

Mix Title : DoinJustFine
Tracks : 17
Length : 78:40
Encoding : 192 kBit/s Stereo MP3

Decription :

An exercise in energy and tension, DoinJustFine is intended to convey the ebb and flow of a frantic night in the city, using moments of calm to rest and reflect before reaching up to each new plateau. Using a number of teases, the mix puts Deep Dish at its thematic heart with a liberal dash of retro and repatriated classics including rips from the Chili Peppers, Asia, Irene Cara, and Phil Collins & Philip Bailey. This mix also features one cowbell solo but, as you all know, could always use more cowbell.

New SmurfCast… GlobalCommunication

30Oct05

Track list here. Listen to it here.

Mix Title : GlobalCommunication
Tracks : 13
Length : 79:44
Encoding : 192 kBit/s Stereo MP3

Description :

Picking up (literally) where this summer’s other mix, PaperThinSuntan, left off GlobalCommunication picks some of the best and most obscure remixes of songs you know and bends them further, weaving them into some tracks you most definitely don’t. With a little latin flavour thrown in for good measure, GlobalCommunication serves as the early evening to PaperThinSuntan’s lazy summer afternoon.

New SmurfCast… DirtyMix

24Jan05

Listen to it here.

To be honest, this was a mix I just threw together while learning some new recording software. I have since lost the track list, so you don’t get one, but people seem to love the eclectic mishmosh of house, etc. despite the fact that I wasn’t exactly trying too hard to make it a seamless musical adventure like my other efforts.

New SmurfCast… Gaybar

30May03

Track List here. Listen here.

Mix Title : Gaybar

Tracks : 14

Length : 79:57

Encoding : 192 kBit/s Stereo MP3

Decription :

A long, long time ago, Senor Heavy spun records in a gay bar. As a result he has been scarred for life, and he’s always had an affection for that early 90s take-no-prisoners, dance around with your shirt off while drinking girl drinks scene. And no, there’s nothing wrong with that. While most gay clubs have either vectored toward modern house or really shitty fromage, this stuff is a projection of what that gaybar scene should have evolved into. With picks from bands as varied as Blur, Frou Frou, Tori Amos, and (for gay bar cred) the Pet Shop Boys this is sure to get you boppin’.
